POSITION: Health and Physical Education Teacher

 

Reports to:  Director of Education and Director of Organizational Development

 

Anticipated start date: August 26, 2024

Qualifications:

  • PE/Health certification PK - 12
  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years experience leading a classroom
  • Act 34 and 151 clearances and FBI registration number and be in good standing relative to Act 48 credits
  • Agreement with and passionate commitment to the mission and values of SCSC
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good mental and physical health

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate physical education and health curriculum aligned with state standards for students in grades K - 8
  • Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons that promote physical activity, health, and wellness
  • Develop, manage, and evaluate the school’s health program in collaboration with the school counselor
  • Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and physical abilities
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate physical education and health into interdisciplinary projects and activities
  • Promote healthy lifestyle choices and wellness initiatives within the school community
  • Evaluate and communicate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge via progress reports (three times per year)
  • Support and/or lead after school sportsmanship clubs, as needed
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in physical and health education and teaching strategies by attending workshops and conferences
  • Actively supervise groups of students during recess, arrival, and/or dismissal times to maintain safety and order, as needed
