It is
very hard to express to someone who is not involved with the
Souderton Charter School Collaborative, all of the subtle,
yet important things about our school that make us different.
Our mission statement is a great place to start, but what
keeps us going after the first year?
What really makes us shine?
Why do parents, faculty, board members, students, and staff
keep coming back?
We decided to ask the folks in our community to explain, in
their own words, some of the things that really make us special.
We hope this will help you to understand, and maybe even want
to get involved!
2002-2003
school year:
"Discovery
(Workshop) is fun. You get to play and make stuff.
I think I learn lots of things from Discovery, like how to
build. Some friends can help. Or, you could look at bugs and
hold them."
- Justin, Student, age six, first grade
"At
SCSC, everyone is kind to one another. Instead of fighting,
you can use the Stop Rule, the Peace Table, Emergency Council
Meetings, and Problem Solving Reports. This makes you think
before you act. It also helps you make better decisions. At
my school, I like that people don't get hurt. People listen
to me."
- Jacob, Student, age 8, third grade
This
morning my son and I sat together and cuddled quietly for
a few minutes when out of the blue he said to me, "Dad,
I really love the Souderton Charter School." So I asked
him, "What is your favorite thing about Souderton Charter
School?" His response was, "Everything is at my
level!"
- Jeff, Parent
"My daughter has got to be the happiest middle school
student at SCSC. She loves it so much that she'll go to school
on a Saturday Work Day and volunteer to scrub the toilets.
-The toilets!!! I can't even get her to take out the trash
at home!"
- Joy, Parent & Board Member
